Hundreds of years ago the elemental lords ruled Gallendor. Each of these four powerful wizards controlled one of the elements - fire, earth, water and air. They were cruel rulers who has never had enough, that they wanted to be like gods. Driven by the hunger for more and more power, they have placed the common people under their minions` mercy. Much worse was the strife among the elemental lords themselves. Everyone claimed to be the masterof the strongest of all elements, but no one was ever able to achieve a decisive victory. The only thing that seemed to be growing was people`s suffering.
One day, started snowing on a mid-Summer day, a groundbreaking event that took place in the once small village of High Shinington. The farmers were sitting ill-tempered in the tavern in front of their beer mugs. Everyone had feared the snow in Summer and now it actually is snowing. They were aware that they would not have been able to save much of the harvest. Perhaps the harvest could have been enough for the people to survive if it were not for the bands of the elemental lords that roamed the land. Demoralized by the certain death that awaits them, sat the peasants silently with their heads lowered looking down at their tables. Suddenly, the silence was broken when an elderly man entered the tavern and caught their attention. He sat down at an empty table and ordered some hot tea.
When the young innkeeper`s son brought him the tea, the old man stopped him as he held him by the arm and asked: "Tell me one thing, young fellow. Why is everyone in such a bad mood?".
"Can`t you see it, Sir? The snow ruined the harvest. People are afraid for their lives." Replied the innkeeper`s son.
The tavern door was opened a second time. This time a warrior in a fiery armor entered the tavern. "Innkeeper, give me something to drink and something to eat. Now! I`m in a hurry," shouted the warrior. The innkeper hurried with a strong stew and a beer at the warrior. When the soldier saw the stew, he grabbed the innkeeper by the collar and shouted, "What shall I do with this? Give me meat, you maggot!"
"We no longer have meat, my Lord." Squirmed the innkeeper, "the weather changes made by your masters have forced us to use our reserves early."
"My masters!" Said the warrior outrageously. " My masters! I have only one master and he does not cast snow spells. For this insult you owe me."
